As a troubling sign of the coming tropical hurricane season, the first official day was met with an announcement of a new tropical storm system. At 5 p.m. ET the National Hurricane Center in Miami, FL identified a low pressure system off the west coast of Florida as Tropical Storm Barry.
Winds: Max sustained at 45mph, extending outward up to 90 miles
Moving: NE at 12 mph
Rainfall potential: Up to 6 inches across central and northern Florida
Coastal storm surge: Up to 5 feet above normal
